Risks of cosmetic dental treatment. All dental treatment carries risks, and cosmetic treatment is elective. Porcelain veneers require the irreversible removal of healthy enamel; they can cause sensitivity, and can chip, debond or fracture, and will need replacing at some point. Composite bonding can stain, chip and wear, and needs periodic repair or replacement. Clear aligners usually require bonded attachments, commonly cause pressure, tenderness and a temporary lisp, depend on you wearing them for the hours prescribed, and teeth can relapse if retainers are not worn afterwards. Teeth whitening can cause temporary tooth sensitivity and gum irritation, and does not change the colour of existing fillings, crowns or veneers. Enamel microabrasion removes a thin layer of enamel and cannot correct all discolouration. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.

Helix Dental is a registered Invisalign and Angel Aligner provider on the Gold Coast. Clear aligners use a series of removable trays to move teeth gradually. Treatment usually requires tooth-coloured attachments bonded to the teeth, and depends on wearing the aligners for the hours your dentist prescribes. Pressure, tenderness and a temporary lisp are common, and teeth can relapse if retainers are not worn afterwards. Clear plastic trays are less visible than fixed braces.
Taken out to eat and clean; worn for the hours prescribed.
