Finding us

Getting here from Broadbeach

Broadbeach occupies the stretch of coast immediately north of us, where the towers, the dining strip and the sand all sit within a few blocks of each other. Helix Dental is in the next pocket south. The trip runs down the Gold Coast Highway and then turns west off the beachfront into the canal streets of Mermaid Waters, which is where Rio Vista Blvd is. It is a local drive rather than a highway run, and you are heading away from the busiest part of the strip, not through it.

Being off the beachfront is why we have parking on site at 2/299 Rio Vista Blvd, Mermaid Waters QLD 4218 — usually the first thing Broadbeach residents ask about, and the main reason people who live in an apartment building with one allocated bay find it easier to come to us than to look for a space closer in.

Working around your roster

Appointments that fit Broadbeach hours

Broadbeach is a working precinct as much as a residential one. A large share of the people who live there work in hospitality, retail and tourism, and those rosters do not line up with a nine-to-five appointment book. Three things tend to matter most:

If you are between dentists or have moved to the Gold Coast recently, it helps to bring the name of your previous practice. Recent x-rays can usually be transferred, which saves repeating them.

Where we focus

Cosmetic and general care for Broadbeach

The enquiries that come to us from Broadbeach lean cosmetic and front-of-house, alongside the routine work that keeps everything else steady.

Porcelain veneers

Veneers are thin ceramic facings bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, alignment or colour. Placing them involves preparing the tooth surface, so it is not a decision to take on the day — at the consultation we set out what is involved, what it does to the underlying tooth, how long the process takes and what the alternatives are.

Teeth whitening

Boutique whitening is done under supervision, after an examination confirms the teeth and gums are sound. Whitening acts on natural tooth structure only, so any existing fillings, crowns or veneers in the smile line stay the shade they already are — which is worth planning around before you start.

Crown and bridge

Where a tooth has broken down, cracked or been heavily filled over the years, a crown covers and protects what remains. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by joining to the teeth either side of the gap. Which is appropriate depends on how much sound tooth structure is left and on the condition of the neighbouring teeth.

Check-up and clean

The unglamorous half of the work. A general dental appointment covers examination, scale and clean, x-rays where they are indicated, and a look at the gums. Most of the cosmetic work we do starts here, because the condition of the gums and the supporting bone determines what is realistic.

Good to know

Broadbeach questions

Thursday is our late night, running to 8:00pm, and we are open Saturday from 8:30am to 2:00pm. Monday to Wednesday we close at 5:00pm and Friday at 4:00pm. Those later slots fill first, so if your roster only frees up in the evening it is worth booking well ahead rather than trying for a same-week appointment.

Yes. You do not need a referral or an existing relationship with the practice. When you call, describe the problem as specifically as you can — where it hurts, for how long, and what makes it worse — so our team can judge how soon you need to be seen. If you are only in the area briefly, say so, and we will plan around the time you actually have.

It starts with an examination rather than a sales conversation. We check the teeth, gums and bite, take photographs and any x-rays that are needed, and ask what it is you want changed. From there we talk through the options that would suit — which sometimes means a more conservative approach than the one you came in asking about — and you leave with a written plan and costs. Nothing irreversible is done at a first consultation.

Ask us for the item numbers on your treatment plan before you commit to anything. You can then quote those numbers directly to your fund, which is the only reliable way to find out what you will get back, since cover varies by fund, by level and by how much of your annual limit you have already used.

Your Medicare card and health fund card if you have one, a list of any medications you take, and the name of your previous dental practice. If you have had x-rays taken elsewhere in the last couple of years, let us know — they can often be sent across, which saves taking new ones.
